EQ-i, what is it?
The EQ-i®, measures a persons' Emotional Intelligence. Emotional
Intelligence is defined as an array of non-cognitive capabilities,
competencies, and skills that influence one’s ability to succeed
in coping with environmental demands and pressures encountered in
life and the workplace. The EQ-i gives one a snapshot of their potential
for performance at that given point and time. The EQ-i will identify
current strengths and areas that can be improved to elevate ones’
probability of success. Unlike the MBTI that measures fairly stable,
unchanging personality traits the EQ-i measures an array of skills
that can be learned and improved upon during ones’ lifetime.
Among the fifteen individual scales the core competencies in Emotional
Intelligence include Emotional Self-Awareness, Assertiveness, Empathy,
Reality Testing, and Impulse Control and lead to resultant capabilities
such as Problem Solving, Interpersonal Relationship, and Self-Actualization
these then are dependent on the supporting factors that make up
the rest of the seven subscales.
