TOC
http://www.goldratt.com It all really got going when he wrote The Goal though he had been struggling with issue as to why people could not or would not solve the real problem to begin with. Any and all of it is fascinating.
Leadership, Change and Systems
Leadership is many things to many people but some essentials can
be found in several excellent books. Good to Great by Collins
has makes several points about Level 5 Leadership and gives some
examples. Leading Change by Kotter identifies skills and
capabilities you need to be a leader capable of leading your team
into the future. His other books, by the way, are also very good.
Books by Goldratt on the TOC are very useful here as well and don’t
forget to read up on the components of Emotional Intelligence. Visit
Professor Kotter at www.johnkotter.com.
Another challenge is to see what temptations come and go for you
as a leader. A small and interesting little book The Five Temptations
of a CEO by Patrick Lencioni takes a close look at the struggle
between opposing forces in five key areas. Visit Patrick's company
website at www.tablegroup.com.
Change leads to the need for looking at systems that are functioning
in your organization and that is where Fifth Discipline Fieldbook
by Peter M. Senge can come in very helpful along with the following
items on TOC on Good To Great. You might like to visit www.sol-ne.org
where he is the Chairperson of the Society for Organizational Learning
(SOL).
Success
Success is the journey, not the destination. If your start the journey today you start being a success today. If you head for a destination someone will move it before you can get there. An easy read and some great ideas can be found in Jon Maxwell’s book Your Roadmap For Success. Visit John's website at www.maximumimpact.com Good to Great
http://www.jimcollins.com/
You may have become aware of Jim first in the book, Built
To Last, that he co-authored with Jerry Porras. He has continued
the research and has identified what it takes to move a company
from just plain Good to Great. Even if you can not move the entire
company you need to find out if you are on the right bus and in
the right seat to make a difference.
